Fruit Flower Baskets

Is amazing how little gifts can solve big problems sometimes. Like most people, I usually get stuck on words. For example, when I had a big argument with my sister, we kept having conversations that would go nowhere. The fight was stupid – something I am not even going to get into here – but nonetheless, we couldn't see eye to eye. You can tell yourself that you are too stubborn a dozen times, yet it is hard not to be stubborn the next time things get heated. Nerves flare up, tempers go wild, and people say stupid things.

If I hadn't sent her a fruit and flower basket, we probably would still be fighting today. I had always thought that fruit and flower baskets were pretty stupid, but my other sister suggested that I send one as a peace offering. I didn't admit wrongdoing, and I didn't try to talk things out again, but I did go online and look at fruit flower baskets. Although there isn't much to them – just a few bright blooms with some oranges and grapes – they really pop when you look at them. Fruit flower baskets look radiant and delicious – giving you the impression of bounty and decoration at the same time. In other words, they are the perfect way to make someone forget what you are fighting about and indulge in a bit of sensory delight. Needless to say, it worked.

 Quote of the Day
the roses
Had the look of flowers that are looked at.
—T.S. (Thomas Stearns)

Since that argument, fruit flower baskets have been my ace in the hole. I am proud to say that I have only had to use them a couple of times, but each time I have resorted to them, they have worked. I sent fruit flower baskets to my girlfriend after I forgot her birthday one year while I was traveling. I sent a couple fruit flower baskets to relatives who I had not called back in a few months, and one to my mom when she was feeling sick. Every single time, they have simply delighted the recipient.

There is something about fruit and flowers that is magical. They bring up associations of fertility, spring time, and childish joy. You can't help but feel like a child, marveling at blooms shooting out of the earth when you look at a well arranged fruit basket flower gift. I don't think that people are consciously aware of it, but this makes it only that much more powerful. The subconscious mind does wondrous things.
